Throughout his career, Ricky mainly worked as a truck driver. He was an active member of the Braidwood Recreation Club, finding joy in various activities including fishing, euchre, motorcycle riding, golfing, swimming, bowling, pool tournaments, and softball. He cherished the time spent at family picnics, creating lasting memories with loved ones.
He is survived by his loving mother, Bonnie Downey of Braidwood, IL; sisters Teri Jones of Custer Park, IL, and Dena Lamb of Braidwood, IL; and his lifelong best friend, Steve Tupper of Custer Park, IL.
He was a proud uncle to Cara Vandermyde, Raime Vandermyde, Justine Jones, and Dr. Lucas (Dr. Kate Sulkowski) Vandermyde, and a cherished great-uncle to Hank Vanderholm, Kiara Jones, and Zachary Vandermyde.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Lucas Leroy Downey; maternal grandmother Dorothy Lewis, and paternal grandmother Annie Downey.
